This verse became especially
meaningful to me during chemotherapy, last year, when my hair was falling out
everywhere. Since grade school, I had had long hair, past my waist. So it was
quite an adjustment to suddenly become bald! However, God showed me he knew
EXACTLY where I was and what I was going through that evening, at a home
fellowship, when a woman shared this scripture (above) with me. I went home
that night and stood before the mirror, crying, "Jesus, I thought you had
all of me!" I had given him my life 29 years before. I thought of the
scripture that says a woman's hair is her glory. Now I knew my only glory
would be in Him. I am just grateful he has preserved my life. I feel like I
got an extension on life -- like Hezekiah, who when he got his death sentence
turned his face to the wall and prayed. God, who is "no respecter of
persons," said he would give him 15 more years.
Many thanks to those who have
been praying for me and my son (who also had cancer a couple years ago). The
fervent prayers of a righteous man are very effective. We serve a God of
mercy.
