'Comfort Ye My People'
Help for the faint of heart

compiled by Diane Dew

"I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you." John 14:18
"Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees." Isaiah 35:3
We all need encouragement from time to time. Sometimes, like David, we just need to "command" our own soul to "be encouraged." However, at times we need a little help outside of ourselves. This may be in simply spending time with God, or in His Word. At other times, what we really need is a shoulder to cry on. We "comfort others with the comfort wherewith we ourselves have been comforted of God," Paul says. And "the hand cannot say to the foot, I have no need of thee." We need each other.
Thus, God has provided for all our needs in:: (1) Scripture; (2) prayer; and (3) the Body of Christ. This site provides all three, via Bible Studies; a chat room and a bulletin board for posting prayer.

 Encouragement
'Bear one another's burdens," Paul exhorts the body of believers. None of us is in this alone. 'The hand cannot say to the foot, I have no need of you.' There is a great need for encouragement in the Body of Christ. He distributes the gifts "severally," our gifts varying. And the gift we have is not for ourselves, but for the body. If you are depressed or  feeling alone, reach out to someone else in need. Your own lack will soon be forgotten.

'They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary; they shall run and not faint.' (Isaiah 40:31)
